You Will Need:
Tub of sudsy water, scrub brush or old tooth brush, towel, sponge, paper, pen or marker
Directions:
Place the tub of sudsy water where your child can reach it easily. Give her a scrub brush and a basket of seashells. Say something like, “I need your help cleaning these shells so we use them to decorate”; “Look at all the different sizes, colors, and types”; “I wonder what kind of animal made this shell?”; “Does it change color when you clean it?”
After cleaning the shells, help your child chart their sizes, types, and/or colors TIP:
Your child will probably get wet and splash water, so have her wear an apron or play clothes. Research names and types of shells at www.seashells.org.
