From I-5 heading South Take the Stewart Street Exit (166) and continue onto Stewart Street Take a Right onto 8th Ave, follow through the Virginia Street intersection our entrance is across the street from the Seattle Police Station on the Left side of the street. From I-5 heading North Take the Seneca Street Exit and take an immediate Right onto 6th Ave Take a Right onto Virginia St (next to the McDonalds) and stay in the middle lane. Take a Left onto 8th Ave and go passed the main entrance of the West 8th building and our entrance is on the Left. Our building is across the street from the police station. If parking in our garage, which is on Virginia Street between 7th and 8th Ave, the garage is located after the Farestart building, then an alley, and then the entrance of the garage is on the Left. Go up the visitor ramp, take a ticket, and park in one of the Bright Horizons spots straight ahead.

Our School-Age Program

Guiding children to experience their world and pursue their interests

We provide school-age child care for school holidays, school closing days, summer day camp or when there is a need for back-up or emergency care. In our school-age program, we provide children with the opportunity to live, learn and socialize in a relaxed setting outside of school.

We offer a wealth of enrichment activities that engage the interests of school-age children. You may find school-age children creating a magazine or a video, playing chess or shooting hoops, tutoring each other or forming a club. Teachers are there alongside, facilitating, guiding and understanding that learning does not have to take on the tone and texture of a school day but rather be filled with fun.

Story Cards

You Will Need:

Large index cards, magazine pictures, other funny card pictures

Directions:

Work with your child to create story cards by gluing pictures from magazines or old greeting cards onto the index cards. Explain to her that you are going to make up a story about them. Start by asking her questions like: “What do you think happened here?”; “How do you think this person (or animal) feels?”; “What are they doing?”; “What will they do next?” Help out a little if needed.

Tip:

Simple pictures of people making funny faces or in unusual situations make for good stories. Try to use a variety of images.
