Our Toddler Program

A place for growing curious, happy and confident toddlers

Our space is built for active and inquisitive toddlers with environments made up of well-planned learning centers that allow for physical activity, child choice and self-directed play, small groups, and supportive teaching. There are reading nooks, sensory tables, great books, pretend play areas, baskets filled with dress-up and exploratory materials, musical instruments, and places to explore.

Learning experiences are planned to promote each toddler’s growing independence, to enhance social skills, and to build the confidence needed to reach their individual

Learning at Home

Cloud Gazing

You Will Need:

A blanket, a day with some fluffy clouds, and the book It Looked Like Spilt Milk

Directions:

Lie on your back with your child and gaze at the sky. Babies will enjoy the sensations of the wind, leaves rustling, and the connection with you. Toddlers and preschoolers will enjoy naming the clouds based on what they look like. You may need to start this activity by pointing out shapes and body parts like ears, noses, wings, etc. in the clouds.  Children may become curious about why there are so many different shapes, why they change, where they go when they disappear, etc. To prepare for these questions or to research after a gazing session, visit www.window.ucar.edu.

Tip:

Point out everything you see and hear while lying quietly: birds, airplanes, bugs, colors, etc.
